BHPD Traffic Unit
Meet the Traffic Unit before you meet them on the street!
The primary purpose of the unit is to reduce traffic crashes and make our community a safer place to drive, cycle and walk. The unit operates under the three E's of traffic safety:

The Traffic Unit is comprised of a sergeant and two officers. They handle the traffic issues and complaints that come into the police department.
Traffic officers are the primary responders to automobile crashes and largely focus on traffic violations such as speeding, failing to stop at red lights and stop signs, occupant safety violations (seat belts and child restraints) and equipment violations such as no front license plates, no mud or splash guards, broken windshields, non-working signals and lights. As a result they make a significant portion of the Department’s arrests of unlicensed and uninsured drivers.
If you have any traffic related issues or concerns you would like to discuss with a traffic unit officer, they can be reached at 847-551-3006 or by email at DKann at VBHPD.net (replace ‘at’ with ‘@’)
