Home Invasion

A home invasion occurred during the early morning hours of August 16th, 2008.

At 2:24am, Barrington Hills Police officers responded to a residence in the area of Bateman Road and Lake Cook Road for a panic alarm. Upon arrival, officers met with the occupants of the home who reported they were robbed at gunpoint by three or more male black assailants.

The occupants of the home stated while they were bound and gagged, their home was ransacked. Cash, jewelry and electronic equipment were taken during the home invasion. Entry to the home was gained through an open basement window. No one was injured during the incident.
                    
The Barrington Hills Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact the Department's Investigations Division, 847-551-3006. If you observe any suspicious persons or vehicles immediately dial 911 to report it. The Barrington Hills Police Department would like to strongly remind everyone to lock all doors and windows when not home, or at night, and to use an alarm system when available.

September 3, 2008 Update

The Department has identified three of the suspects involved with the home invasion. A fourth suspect remains at large, with police actively searching for this individual. The identities of these individuals are being withheld, pending formal criminal charges. Some of the personal property taken during the incident has also been recovered.

The three identified suspects are currently in police custody, on unrelated charges. We are currently working with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office for the formal filing of criminal charges relating to this home invasion.
