Cook County Sheriff Law Enforcement Award of Merit
Sergeant Ron Riedel and Detective Ron Ruffin Honored
On October 14, 2009, Sergeant Ron Riedel and Detective Ron Ruffin were presented the Cook County Sherriff’s Law Enforcement Award of Merit, which is given annually to police officers from throughout Cook County who consistently perform beyond the call of duty as evidenced by their attitude, work ethic and professionalism.
Sergeant Riedel, a twelve-year veteran of the Department, has served the majority of his career in the Investigations Division, where Detective Ruffin, who has been with the agency for the last four years, is currently assigned. They have worked together on numerous successful major investigations such as two recent violent home invasions and a double reckless homicide. Both officers have also served as investigators with the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT), a multi-jurisdictional organization formed to provide investigative and forensic assistance to other member police agencies during the investigation of major crimes.
