BHPD Participates in 2009 Law Enforcement Torch Run
On Sunday June 7th, Department members participated in Leg 15 of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The Law Enrforcement Torch run is the largest year-round fund-raising event benefiting Special Olympics Illinois. It is an annual intrastate relay fundraiser conducted by officers representing every branch of law enforcement across the state from local police officers to FBI agents. The Torch Run has two goals - to raise mony and to gain awareness for the athletes who participate in Special Olympics Illinois.
Approximately 3,000 officers, throughout the state, carried the flame of hope nearly 1,500 miles, running through thousands of Illinois communities via 23 different legs (routes) to its final destination - the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games, on June 12, 2009, in Normal. This year marked the 24th year of the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Illinois and the 20th year in which the Barrington Hills Police Department has participated.
Donations can also be mailed to the Barrington Hills Police Department, Attention Officer Kate Klasen. Please make checks payable to "ILETRSO".
