2009 Second Quarter Neighborhood Watch Meeting
May 6, 2009
On May 6, 2009 there were two Neighborhood Watch meetings held. One meeting was held in the morning and the other meeting was held in the evening. This was done in an effort to accommodate as many schedules as possible and the results were very encouraging. Fourteen people attended the morning meeting and five people attended the evening meeting.
The meeting started with block captains and citizens discussing issues specific to their neighborhoods. Recent crime within the Village was the next subject covered. After updating attendees on the status of several recent cases, the meeting moved on to the topic of emergency preparedness. Attendees were given some insight into how the police department would function in a state of emergency such as a pandemic. Handouts were distributed that contained information on creating a basic emergency supply kit and plan. Information was also distributed on the swine flu.
The meeting concluded with photographs being taken of all block captains in attendance. These photographs are being used to create block captain identification cards which will be distributed in the future.
