Note: All images are better before being compressed and resized for the website. 100 Hours of Astronomy: 400 Years in the Making. On April 2 - 5, a 100-hour, round-the-clock, round-the-globe outreach marathon included live webcasts from research observatories, public observing events, and other activities. The goal: to encourage as many people as possible to look through a telescope for the first time.

100 Years of Astronomy

Barrington Hills Village Hall - April 3, 2009, 7:20 p.m. Start Time

Organizers: Sarah Kenney, Robert Kosin and local NSA Astronomers

*Webgazing – Gain a technical perspective of the cosmos. Local amateur astronomers and IT specialist Robert Sylvester were on premises to share the wonders of the universe both online and through various telescopes.  For this special night, observers could view the solar system through the lens of the world’s leading observatories, locally, through a projected live Webcast.  Viewers could learn to read the sky or simply take a look for themselves through telescopes available for public observing.  Sky Charts were distributed.
